Roberto Narcisi graduated (with honor) in Medical Biotechnology and completed his PhD in Biotechnology and Tissue Engineering (2011 University of Genova, Italy). Subsequently, Roberto worked as a postdoc in the group of Prof. van Osch (Erasmus MC, Rotterdam). After a secondment at Stanford University (2015), Roberto became Assistant Professor at the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam (Orthopaedic department), where he is mainly supported by a VENI/STW grant, a ZonMW grant, a ReumaNetherlands grant and an Erasmus MC grant. His main focus is posed on the use of growth factor-free systems to induce chondrogenic differentiation in adult stem cells, and towards the modulation of intracellular signaling pathways to generate stable (articular) cartilage in vivo. He won the Dutch FameLab event, a science communication competition for young scientist (2017), and was invited as speaker for a TEDx event in Alkmaar (2019).
